Website Referrals

The Website Referrals application helps you analyze your website visitors and understand which social media source brings the most visitors to your website.

Infographic

The infographic contains seven widgets on three tabs to help you understand the value of your website visitors.

The following widgets are on the Referral_Sources tab:

  • The first bar chart displays the number of visits, visitors, and bounces sorted by different sources including Google search, Bing, and social media.
  • The second bar chart displays the number of visits, visitors, and bounces sorted by different social media sources such as Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter.

The following widgets are on the Keyword_Bounce_Rates tab:

  • The CPC Keywords bubble and scatter plot widget plots the coordinates of new visits and bounce rate for different CPC keywords. The size of the bubble is based on the number of visits.
  • The Organic Keywords bubble and scatter plot widget plots the coordinates of new visits and bounce rate for different organic keywords. The size of the bubble is based on the number of visits.

The following widgets are on the Keyword_Hits tab:

  • The first tag list widget displays organic keywords that associated with the most visits. Larger words are more strongly associated.
  • The grouped bar chart shows the relative percentage of visits and bounces for keyword n-grams that are shared between CPC and organic referrals.
  • The second tag list widget displays CPC keywords that associated with the most visits. Larger words are more strongly associated.

Connection and Import

The application connects and imports data about your website using the Google Analytics connection and Referrals import.

You need a Google Analytics account that connects to your website to use the application.

Workbooks

The application uses two workbooks to complete analysis:

  • The Referrals_Analysis workbook aggregates data about visitors who come to your website at referral source level to find visits, unique visitors, and bounce rate by sources. The workbook uses simple aggregation, functions, sorts, and filters to complete this analysis.
  • The Referrals_Keyword_Analysis workbook uses NGRAM to break text into three subsequent characters. Then, the workbook aggregates the type of keyword level, such as CPC and organic keywords, to find new visits and bounce rates by these keywords.
