Testing and Troubleshooting

Health Check

After installing and logging into Datameer Express, open a default workbook preloaded in Datameer. If a default workbook can be accessed, Datameer is running properly.

Troubleshooting

If the Datameer landing page is not displayed after installing Datameer Express:

  1. SSH into the AWS server.
  2. Check to see if the instance is running.
    1. From the command line run sudo service conduct status to view the PID and current state of the instance.
  3. Check the log file for any error or warning messages.
    1. The log files are located in /opt/datameer/current/logs
  4. Restart the server.
    1. To stop the instance, run the command sudo service conductor stop
    2. To start the instance, run the command sudo service conductor start

Backup and Recovery

Datameer Express does not have backup and recovery services. Please see the AWS recommendation for backup and recovery using a snapshot of the EBS values.

Maintenance

Datameer Express has no routine maintence, upgrade, or software patch considerations.

The AWS marketplace will update you if there is an upgrade available. If an upgrade is available, deploy the new AMI on the instance.

If you want to move to an available upgrade, make a backup of your MySQL database on S3 or your local drive. After upgrading to the new AMI you can restore all your saved data and continue using Datameer Express.

Datameer Express does not require any key rotations.

Emergency Maintenance

Datameer Express can run on any AWS region or availability zone EC2 instance. If your current instance zone is down, start Datameer from a running AWS EC2 instance.
