Connections are a collection of data from different sources such as various types of files and databases. See Types of Data Supported for information about the types of data you can use with Datameer. If you want to create a connection for a database type such as DB2, MySQL, or Oracle, you need to add the appropriate database drivers to your Datameer installation. See the Installation Guide for details. To create a connection for a database type that you don't see listed in the file type list, you need to first add the appropriate database drivers to your Datameer installation.

Creating a Connection
To create a connection:
- Click the + (plus) button and then Connection or right-click in the navigation bar and select Create new > Connection.
- Select the file type and click Next.
Specify the connection details and click Next. See Types of Data Supported for additional information about the transfer protocols.
Select whether you want to provide credentials with a JDBC or SSH/SFTP connection or with the related import job. If you select Provide credentials, connection access is only possible with the setup credentials from the administrator. If you select Ask for credentials on import/export job creation, then the administrator sets up the connection. Analysts must provide their own credentials when using a JDBC or SSH/SFTP connection.
- Add a description and click Save.
- Enter a name for the connection and click Save.
Duplicating or Copy a Connection
To duplicate or copy a connection:
- Click Connections in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen.
- Click the connection you want to copy.
- Right-click on the connection and select Duplicate.
- Enter a name for the duplicated connection and click Duplicate.
- The copy of the connection appears in the connections list.
Editing a Connection
To edit a connection:
- Click Connections in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen.
- Click the connection you want to edit.
- Right-click on the connection and select Configure. (As of v6.3, select Open.)
- Make changes as desired and click Next to move through the screens.
- Click Save when you are finished.
Deleting a Connection
To delete a connection:
- Click Connections in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen.
- Click the connection you want to delete.
- Right-click on the connection and select Delete.
- Click Delete in the confirmation box.
